Dredging in Rietkreek

Kurstjens took care of dredging the Rietkreek at Nieuw-Vossemeer on behalf of Waterschap Brabantse Delta.

This project was tendered in an innovative way by using performance specifications. Kurstjens created a design for the realisation of the project, taking into account the Waterschap’s requirements and conditions. Kurstjens offered the best solution to the Waterschap for this work, not only qualitatively (in terms of design) but also quantitatively (in terms of price).

Over a length of about 2.7 kilometres, 8400 m3 of class 0-2 dredge spoil was excavated using a cutter suction dredger. The spoil released in this process was mechanically dewatered using sieve belt presses on an agricultural plot. The clean soil released during this procedure was almost entirely processed as a soil enhancer on adjacent agricultural plots. A small proportion was removed as reusable soil to the Dassenplas at Moerstraten.
