Dredging of aeration basin for RWZI Winterswijk
Commissioned by Waterschap Rijn en IJssel Kurstjens, this project involved cleaning up the aeration basin (AT) of the rwzi Winterswijk. A cutter suction dredger (and partly with a dredge pump fixed to a hydraulic crane) was used to suck up the sedimented material (formally: sewage sludge) from the aeration basin. This sediment was treated in an on-site compact sieve and sand separating system. This meant that only the sand fraction and the sifted material (grate material) needed to be processed externally and the active biological sludge could be returned to the refinement, where it belongs. This system allowed the aeration basin to be cleaned carefully without damage being caused to the walls and floors.
