Cleaning of dredge spoil at Biltse Grift

On behalf of our client Hoogheemraadschap De Stichtse Rijnlanden and under the direction of Tauw Utrecht, Kurstjens removed more than 135,000 m³ of heavily contaminated dredge spoil from the centre of Utrecht and the rural area between Utrecht and De Bilt. The dredge spoil was removed using cutter suction dredgers and received and treated on a central location in a field near to De Bilt after having gone through a pipeline route of many miles. Over 70% of the dredge spoil is purified into reusable sand. The remaining sludge fraction was mechanically dewatered and disposed of with a recognised end processor.
